The very exciting and competitive SL Horsfords sponsored Basketball league, hosted by the Nevis Amateur Basketball Association (NABA), has been suspended indefinitely.
This was confirmed over the weekend by President of NABA, Miss Wanda Parry.
According to Miss Parry, there are some contentious issues to be resolved, coming out of the two crucial games played on Saturday evening-12th May.
On that evening, the second games in the playoffs to determine the two finalists, were played.
CG Massives, having won the first game versus Ole Skool, were hoping to seal the deal with another win, but Ole Skool came out the victors, thus forcing a third game. However, the CG Massives team has protested the result of the game, citing issues with at least one of the referees.
In the other game played, Dynasty Ballers who had beaten defending champions CG Rebels, in the first game, were hoping to secure a finals berth with another victory but the CG Rebels team came out as victors, in the close fought encounter.
Dynasty Ballers have also lodged a protest. Apparently, they are claiming that a basket that was originally called good by the officials, was actually not converted.
With such drama in the offing, the NABA has suspended the league, which will give ample time for the relevant reports to be submitted by the teams and officials involved and a proper investigation to be carried out.
Meantime, Basketball fans anxiously await the outcome of this latest development.
