Track Stars Encourage Students to Excel at Sports but Also Focus on Their Education
Two of Nevis’ finest track stars were the featured athletes on Tuesday 9th July as the Nevis Sports Museum’s week of activities continued.
The two athletes, Meritzer Williams and Tanika Liburd, spoke to the visiting students from the Jocelyn Liburd Primary School and informed them as to what the combination of sports and education can do for an individual.
In a nutshell, they told the students that if they put out their best efforts in excelling at sports and their educational pursuits they would be able to travel the world –free of cost. They would also be able to acquire scholarships, which would open doors for them to further their studies, virtually free of cost.
They also encouraged the students to stay away from negative vices and to focus on the positives of life so that they can become outstanding citizens and make their family members and their country proud.
The two athletes then spent time meeting with the students personally and signing autographs.
Today, Wednesday 10th July would see another impressive group of individuals who have made a name for themselves through sports: Masefield Nisbett; Latasha Isles; Natalie Nisbett-Sutton and Raphael RAFFIE Wallace who has indicated that he may well show up in a three piece suit.
