Traffic Department (February 26th 2013) – The Police at the Traffic Department are presently investigating a Fatal traffic accident which occurred along the Island Main Road at Conaree in the vicinity of Land Fill, at about 8:40 AM on 26/2/2013. The accident involved motor pick-up PA-5968 owned by the Park and Beach Unit and driven by Leroy Pemberton of St. Peters and motor car P-6558 own and driven by Osaro Ikponmwosa of Ocean Gardens and who is also a student of the Windsor University.
Investigation revealed that the pick-up was travelling from Cayon to Basseterre along the Island Main Road and when the driver reach in the vicinity of the Land Fill at Conaree, he saw the car approaching in the opposite direction, the car lost control and collided to the pick-up on the eastern side of the road.
There were five passengers in the pick-up and two passengers in the car, all were taken to the JNF Hospital via EMS, the driver and the passengers of the pick-up were treated and discharged and the two passengers for the car are presently warded at JNF Hospital with none life threatening injuries.
Ikpomnwosa was pronounced dead at the JNF Hospital
An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. Investigations are ongoing.
