Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis – The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis is proud to announce that the 28th meeting of the Council of Ministers of National Security and Law Enforcement of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will take place in St. Kitts and Nevis from November 28-29, 2024. This important event will be chaired by Prime Minister The Honorable Dr. Terrance Drew, who also serves as the Minister of National Security, Citizenship, and Immigration.

Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew has made it a top priority to address crime at a regional level, and this meeting is a vital step towards achieving that goal. As part of CARICOM’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its member states, the council will convene to discuss and formulate comprehensive strategies to combat transnational crime, which remains a significant threat to the region.

The agenda for the meeting will include the development and implementation of measures intended to enhance collaboration and coordination among member states in effectively addressing the challenges posed by transnational crime. Discussions will focus on improving intelligence sharing, strengthening border security, and advancing legislative frameworks to ensure a unified and robust response to criminal activities that cross national boundaries.

Prime Minister Dr. Drew emphasised the importance of regional cooperation in addressing these issues, stating, “Our collective security depends on our ability to work together and share resources, information, and best practices. This meeting demonstrates our commitment to protecting our citizens and ensuring a safe and secure Caribbean.”

The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis is honoured to host this pivotal meeting and looks forward to productive discussions and outcomes that will arise from the collaboration of the Council of Ministers of National Security and Law Enforcement.
